Inspired by similar projects happening in some places throughout the U.S., CCJ developed its Second Chance Housing program. The name 'Second Chance' stems from giving renters a second chance. An issue that can keep many homeless is an inability to find affordable, accesible housing. Even when housing is affordable, a bad credit or rental history can keep people away from finding a place to live. This is where CCJ steps in as a compassionate landlord who is willing to overlook past issues and rent out housing at affordable rates.
At eight housing units and growing, consisting of a mix of trailer and mobile homes, CCJ has now been able to place several formerly homeless individuals and families into homes.
We are fortunate to have had some of our units donated by generous members of the community, and several volunteers who donated their time to rennovate the homes before move-in. Thank you for making a difference!
