Books Before Bed is a service for low income families with children from birth to five years of age. At each monthly meeting, parents can receive diapers and participate in a raffle and a discussion group about parenting and reading topics. Each child can also pick two free new books to take home.

This project aims to improve child literacy by increasing access to books through libraries at home and encouraging parents to read often to their children. There is evidence that success in reading early in life is one of the biggest predictors of high school graduation and later career success.
